Turn Table

Plates, cups, spoons - in a completely new arrangement.
Although sitting together at the table to eat is what we are used to, Turn Table opens up a different perspective.
An installation in honor of mindfulness.

In 2019 I created the Turn Table from the idea that time spent at the dinner table is nowadays less thoughtful. Having dinner together is a special moment. The unfortunate fact that phones have an increasingly more prominent role at the diner table leads to distraction and less attention to each other and the food made and served.
Turn Table suggests a shift, a shift in attention. Taking place at the Turn Table will challenge you to engage with each other and the food differently than what you are used to. This way, we can revive a genuine connection during dinnertime.

Potentiale, Austria

In November 2019, I applied to show my work at the design festival Potentiale in Feldkirch, Austria. With fifteen other students/graduates and postgraduate designers, I exhibited Turn Table during Design Labor in Neustadt 37.

"The Design Labor opens your eyes to the unknown and unexpected.
It offers young Labels, students, and college one platform: for small series and Prototypes for presentation and sale.
In cooperation with Student Design."  ~ from the Messe Magazin (link down below)

Kunstbende

In April 2019, I entered the competition: Kunstbende in the Expo category. Kunstbende is a national talent competition for young people aged 13 to 19. With the Turn Table, I won the qualifying round of Noord-Holland, held in the Meervaart in Amsterdam, and sent me off to the national finals. The finals took place in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. The Turn Table got rewarded with second place.

After that, the works of the three winners of the Expo category got to exhibit at the Rabobank in Utrecht, one of the sponsors of Kunstbende.
